Dear Academies' Families,

As you know we have been working tirelessly to address circumstances that are rapidly changing.  Based on the current reality of confirmed positive cases in Tulare County and the state of California, we will not reopen on April 14 as originally planned. We look forward to the time when Governor Newsom lifts the stay at home order, removes social distancing guidelines, and revokes limits on gatherings. Once these orders are in place, we plan to reopen. At this time, we do not have a tentative reopen date as we aim to be clear in our messaging that this will depend on the criteria mentioned and therefore we will remain closed until further notice. We will communicate updated information with our school community as it becomes available.

During this time of school closures, TACMO will offer the following support services:

1. We will continue delivering high quality educational opportunities to students to the extent feasible through distance learning.  TACMO has developed an online distance learning webpage to provide all of our scholars with access to high quality educational opportunities.  https://www.theacademiescharters.org/distance-learning

For families without Internet access, instructional packets will be prepared and ready by Tuesday for families to pick up in the front office if they wish.  These instructional resources will be continuously updated by instructional staff throughout the school closures.  If families are unable to make it to the school office, you also have the option for our staff to email, mail, or hand deliver instructional materials to your home.  Completion of work is optional.  Please look out for further communication from your classroom teacher.

2. TACMO contracts with Visalia Unified School District for our nutritional services including our lunch program.  VUSD nutritional services will be providing meals at 22 school sites throughout Visalia.  Our families can pick up meals at any of these school sites.  Our campuses are not set up under the Summer Food Service Program, therefore our schools are not part of the 22 school sites.  Prior to the first day of lunch service on Wednesday, March 18, we will provide the flyer outlining the locations that lunches will be provided.

We recognize school closures significantly impacts our families and school community.  The purpose of the school closure is to best protect the health of our scholars, staff, and all with whom they come into contact, including their families.  Social distancing is imperative to prevent community spread. TACMO is asking all students and staff to stay home so we are unable to provide supervision at our sites. We will do our best to inform our school community of partners providing child care during school closures.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this extraordinary time.  We are doing the very best that we can to put the well being of our community first.  If you have any further questions or comments, please direct them to me at dball@theacademiescharter.org instead of posting on Bloomz so that I am able to respond in a timely manner.

We do what is right because it is right.
