"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."- Dr. Seuss

Committed to creating efficient, organized and effective schools that allow all children to grow and to learn, Allan is not one to be restricted by convention, but challenged by it. Eager to roll up his sleeves and get to work helping to shape the future of SVA and its students, Allan is inspired by the school's individualized approach to learning from within an environment that promotes and fosters scholarly achievement and finding one’s natural gifts and talents.

Allan began his teaching career working with special education students, where he discovered his affinity for working with underrepresented and atypical student populations. His prior work experience includes serving as the Learning Center Director at the Boys and Girls Club of East Los Angeles; as well as a custodian at a K-8 school, an instructional aide in a middle school special day class, a one-to-one aide for a student with special needs, a resource specialist teacher at a middle school and a special day class teacher for Kindergarten through 2nd grade students.

Understanding that solving problems in an enduring way requires bringing people together to address the problem from within a climate of trust and mutual support, Allan is particularly skilled at working with students with special needs and their families, and excels at using relationships with students and families to develop, implement and maintain effective behavior management systems.

In his role as Sycamore Valley Academy Principal, Allan will partner with Superintendent Dutton to design, facilitate, and monitor all policies and procedures, and implementation, as well as to ensure consistent academic and disciplinary practices. Allan will also work with staff to innovate and implement programs to cultivate social-emotional learning, decrease punitive responses to behavior, and increase academic achievement, among other duties.

A city of Tulare native, Allan has a passion for expanding access to art, music and cultural events in the Central Valley. In his downtime, Allan enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children and involving himself in musical endeavors, including performing music as a bass player for local and national acts, and recording and producing music for himself and others. Allan would like to be remembered for being someone who worked for equity and access for all students and for being a person who “did” rather than a person who only “said".

"Don't bore us, get to the chorus."-Tom Petty
